“The Amulets of the Digital Age” is an interactive sensory installation that uses different senses: sight, hearing, and olfactory to delve deeper into one's own sensations and find additional resources for self-preservation.
In the face of precarity and recurring crises people need new tools to find their support and feel safe.
Since ancient times, our ancestors created patterns and ornaments to protect themselves from disaster and impermanence. These were their counterstrategies of resistance that helped them cope with fears. The digital age has brought us new fears that our predecessors did not have. It is interesting to see if ancient defenses will work in the modern world for new fears to give us endurance and resistance. The project proposes the creation of new ornaments to cope with new fears.
